You should be able to level the stalk with the dash (in resting position), so the tonneau will fit. The issue for me is keeping it there. It only stays tight for a while before it wants to start...

My left turn signal doesn't self-cancel but it seems to help me remember that the lever is on the right side after a week or so of not driving the car. Just eyeballing the possibility of swapping it...

Ed: It is a VW beetle turn signal unit, from about 1964 if I remember correctly. It will need a little grinding on the inner surface to fit over the steering column. I think there are some threads...
