Having just finished restoring a 1944 Staggerwing I am an expert with safety wire and if they loosen up again I might borrow your idea.

The shifter on my car was loose and it was the two bolts that secured the handle to the base on the transmission. The way AC built the car the boot was riveted to the trans tunnel from the bottom. ...
