The filter needs to be round and larger than the "tube" in the K&N filter. How I did mine was to heat up a hole saw or a pipe of the right diameter and then just push it through the foam....

Actually the car is a lot better at road racing than me. The only other time I've tried it was at R & G 2001. I think I ran a 121 with my BFG Steet tires. Autocross wasn't anything to write home...
