Penn Oil

I have had good luck with LN Engineering, they sell Brad Penn and they have a decent write up on oils on their website (too bad it is for Porsche).

Lots of good information there!

Fork Size

The C80Z-D fork is about 2" diameter and 10.5" center to center. The throwout bearing (McLeod) is about 1" 5/8" OD (no calipers, just eyeball). Either one of these ring a bell?
Thanks
Tom

V-gate shifters

I think you are asking about V-gate or Z-gate shifters, also called vertical gate shifters. Lift the small "t" on the shifter and slide it forward for first, straight back for second, straight...

It is the bore and oiling

The 390 has a bore of 4.05 standard
The 427 has a bore of 4.23 standard

The cranks have the same stroke, although some 427 cranks were steel. Some 390's (FT's found in trucks) have steel cranks,...

Your experience reminds me of mine. I learned an important lesson the same way, replace the battery, alternator and voltage regulator at the same time :)

As for the hard starting, check that the...
