temporarily disconnect tachometer and see if...

temporarily disconnect tachometer and see if problem persists. I had same problem years ago and the tach was getting hot and shorting out ignition system thus the killing engine.

Weld the header collector to the sidepipe and be done with it. The slip on will always leak some no matter how tight you get it. Nothing worse than a exhaust leak, hiss, puff & rattle.

I built my set from scratch. A couple suggestions, bolt up the sidepipes to exactly how you want them to look then build headers. Also, with the headers, don't build the pipes so close to each other...

Since your 6 foot, you could go with a Classic Roadster. It is stretched a few inches with a longer door too which is easier to get in and out.
