We've just had our Cobra painted and went for tapered stripes, it looks fantastic. I'm not sure if I've seen a Cobra without tapered stripes, but I imagine it would look a little odd.

I used a steering Column out of an 1986 Mitsubishi Mirage (I know, its japanese!!). And I bought a steering wheel from FFR, and had my own adapter boss custom made by a machinist friend.
