My hardtop was from a car a few years newer than mine. It fits fine. Even the paint matched perfect.
As far as headroom it has plenty. The hard part is getting in and out of the car.

For the door adjustment take the leather door...
For the door adjustment take the leather door panel off the inside of the door. There should be 3 bolts holding the door to the hinge. You can make the slight adjustment there.

If you have a lift it's not near as hard as it is...
If you have a lift it's not near as hard as it is to do from jack stands. But it is still a pain to get to the 8 collector bolts. I would not want to be changing mine out all the time.
