Mustang / Cobra / Ford FE 428 SCJ style engine by Eric Hinderberger of Performance Engineering: ZERO MILES and approximately 5 dyno HOURS ON THis DYNO'D AND DOCUMENTED at 404 shp with 442 ft/lbs eingine. Includes a new "PRO-SYSTEMS" Holly XC series HP double pumper carburetor (Carb build sheet available and comes with engine; this is a $720 carb and it's NEW. Plenum spacer available at no cost. The engine is a seasoned "A" series 428 Block with OIL galleries CHAMFERED, UPDATED AND FULLY RACE PREPPED. It is completely certified and remanufactured to BETTER THAN NEW---receipts available. This engine was built by the legendary PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING Ford FE professionals. Original iron heads and as you can see the heads are original SUPER COBRA JET / COBRA JET and are very nicely PORTED AND POLISHED, one time, and not overdone. They are fully milled with HYDRAULIC ROLLERS and ALL NEW-- SS VALVES, SEATS AND SPRINGS. NEW COMP CAMS Xtreme Energy camshaft. ALL NEW--BEARINGS, GASKETS, FORGED PISTONS and cast STEEL CRANKSHAFT. Offenhauser ALUMINUM INTAKE plus NEW crankshaft PULLEY SYSTEM. "COMPLETE" MSD 6A SOLID STATE DISTRIBUTOR and IGNITION. Final build receipt posted. Includes ONE YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY from the day it ships. Warranty does not include transportation or shipping to the Cincinnati/Ross, OH offices. THIS IS A MODERATE ENGINE BUILD/BY DESIGN. Again this engine is turn key ready all you need is the exhaust/manifolds and the clutch/transmission bolted up. PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING, a licensed Shelby and Superformance builder, is putting together an Aluminum Shelby for me.

So what makes it a SCJ engine? What type of steel crank?
What casting number on the heads?

I guess the only original parts are the block, the heads and the rods. We photo'd all the parts, so somewhere I have the head pictures with the casting numbers and I'll track those down. I didn't look critically at the photos when I posted them and I see the heads number is a casting date. New photos added. Thanks for catching that. Scott

This engine is still for sale. I can do another dyno'd 100 horses for fifteen hundred more. That's 515 HP for $8,400. DYNO'd
