We already know that Shelby named it the Cobra. The point was that Mr. Shelby was apart of the evolution of the AC Cobra, not the evolution. It is no different then the new Cobra, it has VERY LITTLE input from Shelby.
Just because Mr. Shelby contacted Ford and AC to mate the two together doesn't make him the all mighty creator. I guess if a Honda designer recommends a Mercedes engine to go into the next S2000, that it should be named after him and it's the Ted Johnson S2000 instead of a Honda S2000.
It is obvious that a HUGE part of the car they call "Cobra", existed before Mr. Shelby...

I guess he was the first person (to recommend) to ever put a V8 in a small Car.
