engine problem

Hi
my engine 351 ford windsor stroke 393 does not rise more than laps after the 5000 revolutions / minute. It can be a problem of carburetor or ignition?

Language is a challenge so I will be simple. No easy answer to your question. Has this always been a problem or did it just begin recently? What ignition and carburetor on your engine?

Could also be weak valve springs.

Should this thread not be in the Small Block Talk forum? Small Block Talk - Club Cobra

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the valve springs.

Any 4 stroke running out of puff at high rpm can have one the above, either carburettor or fuel supply, weak ignition - spark misfire, valve float from weak springs, restricted air filter or mufflers etc.

This may sound like a stupid question, but are you using a MSD buzz box with a 5K chip installed?

I worked a Cobra with a 351W that would not rev above 4300 rpms in any gear. Stopped on the side of the road and removed the air filter then it would rev to 6,000 rpms with no problem.

I think Sllib has it figured out. MSD
