Engine talk
I recently purchased an Everett Morrison replica built in 1992. It has a 351 windsor high performance engine. The fella I bought it from did not know what that means. he thinks it is around 400 cu with approx. 350hp to 400hp. I would appreciate any help I can get.
I am also looking for a soft top. Thanks, |
It can be a 351 all the way to a 427 stroker. No way for us to know what you have, unless we get to see it. Without looking inside, all one can know is the external accessories, and some useless casting information. Is it fast and fun, those are the important questions.

A friend and I just purchased partially Complete CMC cobra with a 429 engine. The enging runs real rough, it almost acts like the valves are too tight. I don't know much about the 429 or 460 , have only had small blocks. Can someone tell me if the valves can be adjusted with the rocker arm retaining nuts. If so what is the procedure.
thanks |
If they are stock stamped steel rockers on factory non-CJ heads, they are likely not adjustable. They can be converted to adjustable by installing the Crane conversion stud kit (Jegs sells them) and using BBF or BBC 1.7 or 1.73 ratio roller rockers. This can be done without removing the heads, and is a good compromise if you are not ready to invest in some aftermarket aluminum heads that come with the adjustable type rocker studs.

Oh yeah, be careful if you go with the Crane adjustable rocker stud kit - only recommended for up to about .550 lift.
Also, i would not use this with a roller cam either, as it is not meant for the higher spring pressures usually found on roller combinations. |
