429/460 pushrods

Hi to all, question time again, I offered up the pushrods in my 429 t/bird eng this weekend, the ones I had (new) are 8.550, and don't seem long enough! I have relaced the std setup with screw in studs/guideplates/comp cams magnum roller rockers, anyone else running that combi? the cam is a new std item until I get the car on the road and shook down, I know there are pushrods in various longer sizes, any suggestions? Thanks as always. Dave Keane UK

get an adjustable length pushrod, figure out exactly what length pushrods you need, then order custom length pushrods.

Adjustable pushrods

That's what I did. Actually, I bought a pushrod length checker that came with adjustable pushrods. Its a fixture that looks like an aluminum rocker arm, you bolt it down, turn the adjustable pushrods until they are snug, add a few thousandths to compensate for putting the hydraulic lifter at mid-travel. Then measure and order.

BTW, my intake and exhaust pushrods were slightly different lengths. Length will vary based on rocker ratio and cam base circle diameter.

Cheers!

Chuck
