Accusump elect valve failure

I bought a 3qt Accusump about a year ago. I was prepping the unit to install on my engine, set up so I could use it to pre-lube my engine. I followed the instructions to the letter, compressing the pistion to make room for the oil, installed the oil and put the electric valve back on the unit, reinstalled the valve stem and was ready to pressurize the unit to 50 lbs. When I began to put the air pressure to it,oil went every where. The electric valve is to remain closed until energized. Apparently it is not holding or is stuck open. I did test the valve by putting 12 volts to it and it seemed to respond normal sucking full open when I hit the juice.

Seems like the valve is not seating or oil is just blowing by. I seem to have heard of other people having problems with this elect valve. I plan to call Canton on Monday but was wondering if others had ever heard of the valve problem.

I have charged two of them and they both did the same thing. Squirt about a pint of oil out until the solinode seats/seals ?? after that; alls OK. My friend told me about it. I cycled valve, blew on it etc. Just like he said - pint of oil on the wall.
Don't know why, does make sense, defies the law of physics; but that how it works

Nils, I appreciate the responce. I have worked with this thing all day. Naturally I took it apart and it is so simple, I can't put my finger on the problem. Seems like mine is squirting more than a pint, I dunno, I grabbed the damn thing and blead off the air (only 10-12 psi in it before it erupts), instructions call for 50 psi then bleed back to 7psi. I know this, I have lost at least a quart, on the floor, on me and anything close. I'll see what Canton says on Monday. I have had this unit for over a year and never got it on the car, warranty is for 90 days. Thanks, Ray

The first time I tried to pressurize mine in blew a couple pints across the garage and all over the wall. After that the valve closed and I was able to get the pressure up to 50 psi. Apparently the valve needs some pressure behind it to close. It would be nice if they put that in the instructions. I'm glad I wasn't looking at the valve when I tried to pressurize it.

Snake farmer:

I not sure anything is wrong with it. Put a hose on the output and lead to a bottle, fill with 3 qts and pressureize the thing straight to 50 psi; I believe it will quite hemoraging and hold after you get the pressure up. PSB's did exactly like mine and now its holding prefectly at 55 psi
