429/460 swap
I was wondering is it possible to swap a 429/460 Cobra Jet engine into the body of a 97 ford cobra? And if it is possible to swap them what all would half to be done? As well as to still pass emission testings? Is the 429/460 Cobra jet engine a 7.5L?
Or should I just basically swap 5.8L windsor motor instead? Thanks!! |
First, there isn't room for the big engines in your car. Second the cost would be astronomical and forget passing
emissions. Your best bet would be to look for aftermarket parts for the current engine. Turbo charging is cheap horsepower and generally doesn't effect emissions. It will however, effect your car's engine management computer. Any modifications to the engine will effect the computer, so investigate aftermarket chips and re-programming before buying. Al |
twin turbo wouldnt work?
getting ignition and twin turbo i figured would help you pass because of the complete feul burn. If you really dont mind there are catallitic converters that will scrub exaust for a short period of time, mainly, the time it takes to pass an emmissions exam but these are somewhat sketchy to find.
of course doing that would be illegal... then again so is trying to pass an emmissions test with a 460 in your car. |
