fuel pump eccentric
Need a new fuel pump eccentric for my 1977 460 motor. Any know of a part number or source for this part??? Also, I have heard of using a one piece eccentric instead of the two-piece that came on the motor. Anyone know of a part number or source for that?? Posted this on the 385 Forum also, no responses yet.
Thanks much, Rick |
I'm not sure what you are talking about here, and from your lack of replys I would bet no one else knows what a fuel pump eccentric is. For me, all of my stocker motors all use Carter high flow mechanical pumps on carb'ed engines and on blown applications I've used several types of electric pumps and regulators. More info. is requested for us to help. Or I might be a dummy too!

The fuel pump eccentric (the offset cam that drives the mechanical fuel pump) is available through my Ford dealer for the hefty sum of $95.00. Small block or FE motor eccentrics won't work per FRPP tech line. So looks like I'm off to the junkyard to find a uncracked replacement. Wish me luck!

Rick, the one piece unit is not made anymore. If you find one, it will be either used or after market. The two piece unit is available at summit, PAW and Vallanies ( spelling? ).
May I suggest an alternative? Go electric and forget the eccentric. Plate off the openning and drive the engine's fuel with a Holy red if carbed. If you have to have one, try ebay. Just my $0.02. |
Got what you are talking about now. I've allways called it something else. The electric pump makes a lot of sense in this case. Not that it matters much in a Cobra but I would also look for a electric pump that runs quiet too. I took off a cheap Carter pump that worked ok once, it was on a Hemicar and click, click, clicked me to distraction.
