shifter for C6/429

Hi, Dave in UK with a Q re shifters, I need to purchase one but have no experience with the autobox, I was looking at a quarterstick as an option, but wondered about the pros and cons of different types, I want a fairly compact one, the C6 is generally standard with new HD bands etc, I intend using a transbrake in the future with another engine. Any suggestions/feedback appreciated. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave,

Here's my C6 shifter. It's from a 1965 Mustang, and happens to be identical to the shifter Shelby used on his auto trans cars, including the Cosby Cobra.

C6 shifter

Hi Tom, yeh that looks good, is the transmission tunnel fabricated in steel, how is your shifter secured underneath? I have just added a backbrace to the chassis as the autobox option on mine means the company don't add the std brace,I'll probably bracket off that to secure the shifter when I decide what type. Thanks as always. Dave ;)

Hi Dave,

The trans tunnel is fiberglass. There are 4 screws going in from the top, one at each corner, that hold the thing down. It works great! The only hard part was finding the correct neutral safety switch.

Regards,

Tom
