I have a strong opinion about Webbers on 385's. It has to do with keeping with the thinking you started with when you bought or built your car. Most Cobras that have 385's in them were not built with period correct looks in mind in the first place. It can be done of course, but I'd say 99% of the 385 cars out there are not really spot on "correct". The FE guys are the branch of our little family that goes for the correct looks. On a FE or a Windsor, Webbers are the cats meow, on a 385 they look added on to me.
Performance wise, modern electronic fuel injection is a much better option than webbers, esp. on the street. So you loose there too. (IMHO) In fact the trend I have seen lately has webbers being converted over to electronic injection while retaining the stock looks.
The question then becomes what have you gained by going to webbers on a 385? Correct or awesome looks? At what price?
Unless you are trying to fool someone I'd say my vote is against Webbers on a 385. Put a carb. on it and drive the tar out of it I say.
