Does anybody know where i can find a dipstick for a 1977 460?

I never could find one, even through a dealer. I finely bought a chrome chevy stick from an auto parts store and modifyed it to seal properly on top. Then cut it by matching a buddy's 460's dip stick. Works fine.

My stock unit leaked oil all over the headers..
 
So I ordered a stainless braided and aluminum unit, with o-ring seals from www.jegs.com

Works great and no leakage problems.

I have also bought a aftermarket dipstick. Cuting it down and remarking it is no problem they just dont seal tight to the diptube. What did you do to make it seal better?

I put the car on the dyno and wound up spraying oil out the dipstick tube.... Are there any dipsticks that will fit into a 460 motor that have sealing rings??

If your using the thru-the-timing cover style Milodon makes a real nice stainless steel one with rubber O-rings (MIL-22040) Which you can get at Summit or Jegs. If your using this type of timing cover you can see a picture of it in my gallery both in the cover and before I installed it. Btw it works great with road race front sump oil pans.

I checked out summit and jegs site but the picture looks like a flex type tube that hooks up to the pan. How do you mount it to the timing cover? Does it pressed in or is it threaded, do you use the braided tube? My current tube is threaded check out my pic's

Its not braided, its straight stainless steel and is press in not threaded.From your picture I can see that you do not have a stock timing cover but if shaft size is the same it should work.

I have a 69 429 Thunderjet i am in the process of 20 over size hear thay have thin walls, roller rockers and plan on 600 lft cam hyd. I want 10.5 cr and head work will be ported and super cobra jet valves, installed and a super cobra jet intake if i can find one, about what kind of HP am i looking at guys,????
Just wondering.
