514 Stroker kit
Evening ya'll,
I am planning on putting in a Ford 514 Stroker kit on my SPF 460 this winter, and have a few questions. First, will I have to have the block bored to accomodate the 4.39" pistons in the kit? I have a Ford 460 (serial # M6007-B460) . Also, the 514 Stroker kit specifies that I must externally balance the engine- will this have to be completed by a machine shop? I think I will have to place a crankshaft damper spacer to achieve the proper counterweight balance. I appreciate any and all feedback. Brawley |
You'll have to have a machine shop install the stroker kit into your short block, they'll decide if your block needs boring or not. By externally balancing would mean just installing a harmonic ballancer such as a Fluid Damper brand (which is a good choice).
