New Carb
My 460/486 came with a Holley 4160 carb with vacuum secondaries and an Performer Rpm manifold. Runs pretty well with this combination but I was looking at the Holley 4150HP 750cfm carb and was wondering how much better it would run with this carb. How does this carb stack up against the Mighty Demon line of carbs for performance and ease of tuning.:)

If I recall correctly, the 4160 doesn't have a rear metering block right? Not a bad carb, but you can't tune the secondaries easily.
The 750HP will have a rear metering block with jets and a power valve, and I think mechanical secondaries. Far easier to tune. The mechanical secondaries should work just fine given the lightweight of a cobra, but you can expect fuel mileage to suffer. Can't say I'm a big fan of the Demon line. They work fine and the quality is there, but I don't see any advantages over the Holley it's design is based on to justify the high price. If you have your 4160 set up right, you probably won't notice much difference on the road by installing a 750HP. If you want to start tuning the rear of the carb, you can always add a rear metering block and quick change secondary spring kit to the 4160. |

Thanks Carl, you're right about the lack of a rear metering block on the 4160. Its not a bad carb and maybe a lighter spring in the vacuum secondary might give me what I want. I'll try that and go thru the carb tuning first before making any decision on a new one. Thanks again for your response!!:)
