First Post, Proud owner of Roller SPF #2855
Finally fulfilling a dream that started when I was 10 years old. Just purchased SPF roller #2855, in the process of finishing up a 514 FMS stroker with fuel injection. Just ordered a fuel cell being built by fuel safe. I am a little surprised that I don't see more posts regarding replacing the steel tanks that come with the SPF. Just seems to me to be the only way to go at any price. Will send out more posts as things progress. This site is great help.

Welcome to the madness. You'll get a lot out of this site.
Although my car has a Fuel Safe fuel cell, you'll find that there's a lot of negative that's been said as far as longevity for them compared to standard fuel tanks. There's a service life that needs to be respected. Anyway, have a great time with your great car. Pictures are almost a must so we can see your pride and joy. |

Are there treads that I can reference regarding the fuel cell. I am working on pic's. Looked at yours, great looking snake. Enjoyed the pic of the Danica accessory, looks like an expensive addition.

Post up some pic's of the gas tank you are having made please.
I'd like to see it installed (I like the looks of the stock tank) and how many gallons it holds. Sump? Baffles? Eric 2715 |

Eric, Fuel Safe has a custom tank that is configured to fit the SPF in the same location as the factory tank. It is slightly wider than the stock tank so you need to do some fiberglass trimming in the inner fender area to fit it. It is Tig Welded aluminum with a sportsmen pro cell bladder. It looks much better than the stock tank when installed, like a polished SST tank. You should give them a call if I remember correctly it is somewhere around $1100.00. You will gain a few gallons of gas but gain a ton on safety Mcdoo |

I will send pics as I get them and show the before and after on the Fuel Cell. As for the cost I wished I could tell you that it is $1100 but it cost me a whopping $2400. Not to high a price to pay for ones life, I saw a SPF after it had been rear ended at 35MPH and while it totaled the car the Fuel Safe fuel safe cell probably saved the guys life. Had it been the steel tank who knows. |
Welcome to the club. I am glad to see someone tossing in a 514 in their Cobra. I personally think that is one of the most under rated engines available these days. Post some pictures when you get a chance. You're in a great place to own a Cobra with all those tracks close by plus you have a pretty good group of Arizona Cobra owners to get together with or lean on. Enjoy.
