BG Fuel Pump Losing pressure/prime????

Guys looking for a little help.

Here is the issue. and all the details and recent changes.

I have a Barry Grant Fuel Pump. Pick up is a sump at the back of the tank. Pump is located in front of the tank.

I recently moved the pump higher to fit the filter to it directly as recommended by Barry Grant. Before this no issues. I have also changed all of the steel braided lines and reconnected or re routed (nothing dramatic here). I also checked for leaks and there appears to be none.

Now the issue. I put 5 gallons in a completely empty tank got the fuel pressure up at the carb, let it warm up and then went for a run up and down my street. On the way back I lost fuel pressure and coasted into the driveway. I tried to restart, but no fuel pressure at the carb. I tried cracking the fitting just before the pump with both pump on and off (hoping it was an air bubble), no luck.

Questions:
Do you think the pump went bad?

Is it possible the 4or so inches I moved it up is too high and it lost fuel from
the pick up with only 4-5 gal in the tank and then wouldnt reprime?

I am probably going to remove the fuel filter lower the pump back down and see if that works, if so, I will relocated the filter again.

Any other suggestions or help would be greatly apprciated.

i've got a cheapo waldon that is 4-5ft. up the line and low that pulls a prime so i wouldn't think that would be it.

check your filters?

what type filters you running?

is the pump still running when no pressure?

put some more fuel in the tank so the fuel level is at least as high as the pump---if it works then its not your pump but how you have it mounted

Guys, thanks. I moved the fuel pump back down and put the fuel filter back up front. It immediatley fixed the problem. I am going to run with it like this now. Eventually I will fix the fuel filter to before the pump (better way), but I am getting this out on the road this weekend.

Weather is great, have a fun safe weekend
