variable duration lifters
I have a 460 with a c6. Does anyone have some experience with variable duration lifters and a big cam. I want to keep the low rpm drivability, or will a 2800 RPM converter and a 6500 RPM cam work well together.

I used Rhoads lifts in my 72 dodge challenger. They did exactly what was claimed. My idle vaccum went from 12 inches to 17 inches of mercury if I recall correctly. I was running about 235 to 240 deg. duration at 0.05 at the time. Ran them for 10 years and really liked them. If I did not already have a roller cam now I would use them again.

you liked them? i never had much luck with them. i can't comment on the vacuum advantage, the valve train noise was so excessive it got shut down after cam brake-in
and the lifters went in the trash. circa 1979-1980. are they any different now? who knows.

The rule of thumb is if you need Rhodes lifters, you need a smaller cam. That comes from a manufacturer of lifter and cams.
