Motor loses fuel pressure
Motor loses fuel pressure.
I installed a new alum fuel tank and started having a fuel problem. Driving at a normal speed and it will just die.I change the electric fuel pump and it didn't fix the problem. The pump runs at 6.5 lbs to a eddlebrock 750 carb. It does'nt happen very often but it could happen at the wrong time.If i pull over it will usually start up.It's not a heat issue because it has happened on cool days without the engine up to temp.I cleaned all the lines and filters and found no problems. The engine is a 460 crate 4 years old.The first three years did't have any fuel issues.I changed the tank because of fuel smell in the trunk with the plastic fuel cell. The tank is not vented but I tried driving with the gas cap open a crack and the problem didn't go away. The new tank was very clean wnen installed. painter |
My guess was the vent........but you might check to see if there is a filter on the end of the pickup and maybe it has something on it or it has a kink in it ......or your ground on your pump is bad.......good luck.

Driving at normal speed and it just dies?
Does the car make normal WOT power? Do you run a fuel pressure gauge within drivers view? |
