Guys,

Slow down, take a couple of steps back and several deep breaths.

You’ve taken my original e-mail about “smoking everyone at Byron” way to seriously. (Read: It was a joke! My comments were intended to wake everyone from their winter doldrums and believe I’ve succeeded.)

But I do plan to race at Byron for the first time. Realistically as the club newbie, we all know I have two chances of beating anyone in the club, i.e. slim and none. Arcenio’s 11.74-quarter mile time is an outstanding achievement, undoubtedly a club record with his 3.8 turbo charged engine, and safe from being broken. (Especially by a novice like myself.) We all know Arcenio lives and breathes for low quarter mile ET’s; it’s in his blood, the very essence of his being. By everyone’s admission, he’s the club best. But I do want to race him and learn from the best. I believe I’ll learn the proper techniques quicker by racing the best and hopefully he’ll share some of his quarter mile racing expertise with all of us. Personally, I’d be very happy if I can complete the quarter mile without, pick one or more of the following that you think apply: Blowing a shift, wrecking my car, killing someone, wetting my pants, or making an A.. of myself.

I believe life is like a smorgasbord, and we should taste/sample a little bit of everything. Regardless if I win or lose, it’s important that I try.

Frank
