My BOSS 9 visits the engine dyno
Since the January gathering didn't happen, thought I would post this.
Dropped off the Boss 9 at the Kaase shop Friday AM and Jon called late Saturday with the results: 980 hp between 6600 and 7000 rpm ~ 815 torque All natural pump gas. This is a 600 cid Ford 385 series engine with Kaase Boss 9 heads and intake - as cast, no port work, aluminum block, and a single four barrel carb. The cam is not an all out quarter mile cam, but is substantial and not appropriate for a long road trip. That's it for now, will post more as development continues. |
So is this Boss 9 motor in a Boss 429 Mustang or you putting it in a Cobra?

Cobra - the second one listed above

John,
I was wondering where you get "Natural" pump gas at.   Impressive numbers, well done. :D |
Cool...that should be awesome. I'm actually doing a new Cobra (have it on order - turn-key minus) and haven't decided on an engine yet. I had a 1970 Boss 429 in the late 80s and always liked the look of that engine although they performed much better on a NASCAR track at 6,500 RPM than on the street. I know with all the new parts advancements, aluminum blocks etc they would probably be pretty neat now. Like to hear more as it develops for you including some pics of the motor etc.
Just stumbled across this............ http://www.youtube.com/user/detroit1.../0/9WbjET40gbQ |
