Butterfly Exhaust valves
Does anyone have Exhaust Butterfly Valves on there Cobra. I ask as I want to drive my Cobra to work but I leave around 5:30am so with the Cobra being so loud I will become know to my neighbours as that prick that starts his car at 5:30am in the morning guy. I saw a product that Harley's have on there bikes where a butterfly valve is placed in the exhaust and when closed 90% off it quietens the exhaust sound dramatically and when you get out on the freeway you can open it up 100% and you have the sound and performance like it was not there. Anyway I want to put those on my Cobra to lessen the noise when I start up and around the neighbourhood, Thanks

I've been thinking the same thing. Summit sells dual pipe kits for around $400. But then you need to fabricate a complete under car system with mufflers. I would think that 1 1/2" pipes would be big enough.

Nothing that is convenient is going to work. So, I would just sleep in late and head out around 10:00am. Taking the Cobra to work means you're probably going to goof off most of the day anyway, so it really doesn't matter....:cool: |

If you restrict it down enough it will still run and idle ok. What about truck like exhaust brakes to restrict it enough until you get down the road.

Wouldn't truck exhaust brakes make it louder?

I suspect something like this "Electric Exhaust Cutout" ( https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...ec35/overview/ ) with a couple of holes drilled in it would serve the purpose. You'd run it in the open position normally, then close it when you're in 'stealth mode', restricting the exhaust flow to whatever size holes are drilled in it. |

I have kinda the opposite problem, I had the sidepipes modified to make them more quiet. Now I would like to have a manual or electric valve ner where the 4 into 1 is that I can open and let em Bark.
Havent found anything as yet.
