DC, have you call Barry Grant yet?
David, have you gotten your specs together for the carb config? I've pretty well convinced myself I want a Demon with mechanical secondaries. I believe I'll have the same cam profile as yours. I'm anxious to hear what they tell you.

Tony,
They recommended a 750 speed demon with mechanical secondaries. The holley is working good now after some tweaking and new springs in the secondaries. I have talked to some guys who are running the demon. Some had good luck, and others not so good. I am thinking of waiting until winter and getting a set of ida's that Wayne Presley is advertising on this site. DC |
Dave, I decided on the 750 Mighty Demon. I called Southern yesterday and put in the order request. I read the manual online last night and it looks like a significant amount of "trial and error" could result without a thorough knowledge of carb tuning. Anyway, I feel better that I've made the call.

Tony,
What is the difference in the mighty demon and speed demon? I talked to a racing buddy of mine this week. He said there is a guy in Dalton that will tune carbs after you imput your cam profiles, bore, stroke, etc. He does a lot of circle track race cars aroung here. The name is Stealth carbs. Heard of it? Did a couple of things to my holley this week. Plugged the power valve and checked the alternator to see why it wasn't charging. The wires were turned around backwards at the alternator! Took it for a ride this afternoon and made it back without limping home. Definitely improving and running mucho better. |
Dave, go to barrygrant.com and look at the comparison. They have a pretty complete web site. My take is that the Mighty Demon is for more radical applications than the Speed Demon. Chill was told to to Speed Demon as well. When I got my cam info from Bill, I called their tech dept. and gave them car stats. The tech recommended I go the Mighty Demon route. This one is similar to the Race Demon with some of the adjustments fixed. Mine will be a double pumper with mechanical secondaries. I want to be loaded for bear!
