I had a no-go but was able to witness JO running and as always around his car with your ears plugged! He is having trouble with what they believe to be his electronics which was doing some pretty weird stuff on the dyno but still well above most of us around here. The net result was roughly 15 hp gain and marginal on trq. as well - by his standards. This meant 558 rwhp and 604 rwtq but considering the extensive work which was done does not reflect the true power to come. His car also basically cuts off at 5,700 rpm's which is also related to this hick-up. Will update when all is fixed. BTW, Randy I was wrong about his other motors hp ratings - they were "only" 553 at the wheels instead of 595. It was still fun but don't tell JO that!

OK Cracker - time to be honest
I froze driving to the shop, my son with me and a nameless accomplice following (30 degrees). Cracker was a late arrival, limped into the lot, made up some excuse to avoid the dyno, and parked his car. Later he decided his pushing rod was too short. I did not verify this claim. I stepped up and strapped in. The pulsating rhythm of my motor was a mystery to all - 600 ft lbs unable to focus its attention and it quit in the third quarter, short of 6k. Two hours later the shop decided it was possessed.
Took the data over to Kaase's shop. Kaase was out for a little stress relief blasting with machine guns, so I had to wait a few minutes to get his opinion. He said in 30 years of engine building, he had never seen anything like it.
We decided it was patentable and went over to a bar recommended by a used car salesman that was also a popular televangelist. As luck would have it the Falcon cheerleader squad was there and after a few rounds, took us out to the parking lot to show us their stuff. It was amaaazin, but the annon. accomplice and Cracker got to be a little embarrasing. Deep into the celebration it was looking dark and cold - so I decided to call it a day. Cracker and the annon. John H. were still in the parking lot. Cracker - do you remember where your car is?

Now that sounds like my kind of dyno day ;) JO sorry to hear your motor wasn't up to snuff but I'm certian you will have that elusive big number in the books soon.

Stator Man

John,

Did you check the voltage to the flux capacitor? :)

DavidH 03-12-2004 10:14 AM

Maybe it's the stator.

Sorry Randy, I couldn't resist.

JO - I have a reputation around here%/ to uphold!!! Worked the longer push rods in today (moron builder) and it pulls like a freight train using all eight cyl. I also found a broken plug at the porcelain stem so obviously I had a couple reasons for making all that racket but not only that my clutch is as good as gone so I ordered another one a few minutes ago - the dyno wouldn't have worked in this clutches state. I'll keep you posted as to what the engine pulls hopefully next week. JO - shame - shame - shame! I did enjoy meeting your son so thanks for bringing him along! Take care everyone - I'm off to pull a tranny.
