65 GT350 R model clone racer

Atlanta folks,
I'm at a cross roads with my Mustang racer.
I can either put a ton of money into it to make it an "up-front" race car for HSR group 5, or
I can sell it, or
I can keep it like it is and just be happy playing around at the back of the pack.
I am looking at installing a 347 and a jerico, willwood brakes, brake fans, bigger radiator, etc.
Before I spend all that money, does anybody want to buy it like it is ? It is titled and taged , and can be used on the street or track as it is now. I do not use it much. Check my gallery for a picture and let me know if you would like it for $20,000 ,or feel free to make an offer, but don't wait too long as it is the next project on the list.
Thanks,
Johan

specs:
1965 mustang fastback with title and tag
Mexican block (high nickel) 302
Tri-y headers, 4 wheel disc brakes, dual oil coolers, msd ignition, Dr. gas crossover, Special front anodized lower control arms for race tuning camber and castor, Detroit locker, toploader, fuel cell, full cage, twin race seats and harnesses, good oil pressure and runs fine, no smoke, everything works good, front and rear swaybar, has raced in HSR, SCCA, VSCDA, etc.
r-model re-creation correctly done, has patina of an old race car, certainly not a trailer queen.

Just curious here - what's wrong with the back of the pack? You are ahead of them every other lap - right before they pass you. Ask TC - he can verify the thrill :p

Why is it every time a ship pulls up to my dock I'm without paddles?

Dave Crace 04-20-2004 07:58 AM

I think you should keep it so you can run every group in HSR :D

Johan,

I just sent you a PM.

The car is sold. Thanks for your interest. If the car goes to anyone on this list, it will be to sfcj428, but the actual first to say they would take it(where do I send the check?) was "Gary Jones Motorsports", so we shall see how it goes. Again, thanks.

Did I just see that car in Augusta yesterday. I was dropping off my Cobra at ATC and there was a white clone racer in there. That would have been awful quick to get it from Atlanta to Augusta in a day!

John

Johan 04-21-2004 01:02 PM

Not sure what ATC stands for, but the car has been in Augusta since it was hauled there from the HSR Savannah races.

jhaynie 04-21-2004 01:18 PM

Thats actually Augusta Transmission Clinic, owned by the Weeks. I guess you know them through their involvement in HSR.

They are tuning my Cobra for me now. There was also a silver superformance there getting work done. A guy in Augusta named Prather, whom I've never met, owned it. Nice cars, all of them.

I just got back from Panama. What happened to my Mustang while I was gone?

Panama sucked. DO NOT GO THERE! Horribly expensive, they tax people to death and want no Americans to even consider moving there or being tourists, food is overpriced and undervalued, booze is outrageously priced, hotel rooms are a rip-off, women are horrible looking and conservatively attired and want nothing to do with you. Rudest people I have ever met in my life. Weather was awful, water was filthy, fishing was a disaster.

DISCLAIMER: All of the above was a lie. However, I did catch the largest Roosterfish they have ever seen. :D

jhaynie 04-23-2004 08:51 AM

TC,

Don't worry, your car is in good hands, and protected after hours by two big mean dogs. It looked to me like it was just sitting there waiting for someone to open there checkbook.

John
