Who is?
Hi everyone! Just wanted to ask about a Cobra my wife keeps telling me about that she has seen at least 4 different times here in the Dawsonville area. All she could tell me is that its blue w/white stripes and she usually spots its out on hwy 9 between Cumming and Dawsonville. Please dont shoot me when you see me honking at you to pull over if I ever see you myself. Glad to know a fellow Cobra lover lives close by!

What will you be driving when you honk... does it have a siren?...if so, the owner's name is Randy...

LOL, no siren just my white F-150 pickup truck. I'm working on my Cobra project again (had to pospone with my daughter being born) and seeing some of the posts in here I knew there was some fellow Cobra junkies that live close by. My motor is completed sitting in the garage (460 w/ 429 SCJ heads), had some trouble finding a bellhousing but was able to get my hands on one from a 351 modified which had the same bolt pattern as my big block. With the new Superformance dealer in Braselton Ga I'm tempted to go that route so I get to enjoy it sooner. Went by there last saturday and they seem to be some good folks and their display cars really look great. I think their having their grand opening coming up soon, so I'm going to attend so I can learn as much as I can about their cars. What do you guys think about their cars? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you been to Unique in Gadsden. AL? If not, you should. They make a nice product and if you get the Deluxe Pallet kit you still get some (valuable) build time, but it is not a 'crate' kit.

CJ,
I love my Unique, but Superformance also builds a very nice Cobra. I don't think you would go wrong with either.

Hi Joel thx for the input. I took a look at the kit chill recommended and it seems to be a well rounded kit for the $, but I had a few questions you guys could probably answer for me. I would like to ask you guys about the amount of gelcoat work you had to do or have done. How were the seams and overall glass work? How many hours of prep did you or your body man have to do to get it ready for paint? Any info on what you guys experienced with your Uniques would be very helpful. Thx again for your help.

Kra,
Why don't you post that question over on www.uniquecobra.com My car was a turnkey, and thus painted, but I've been told by many, the Unique bodies require considerably less prep than many. They're also relatively thick, and thus sturdy.
Mine withstood a shot to the side by a blind Ford Focus backing out of a parking space. No cracks!

KrAz...
The unique body is good and straight, and with proper prep work they come out very nice. I looked at a few kits and their 'raw' body was the best in my opinion. In the prep and finishing department, I had Bruce Bunn do mine and I recommend that route, and that guy. If you want to find out about doing it yourself, ask GeorgiaSnak since he did more of the prep himself... and it actually came out looking good in spite of his efforts:D

I would need to find someone I could trust to do the body work chill, thanks for the recommendation. I would not even attempt to do the body and paint myself. Heck I'm not even allowed to paint around the house but put a wrench in my hand and all is well. When I get closer with my project I'll hit you up for a phone # to talk with Bruce.

A friend of mine has a Superformance and it is a very nice car. There are alot of very fine kit makers out there. Do your homework before you put down your money. Try to drive or at least take a ride in and talk to as many owners as posible before you make that decission.

I have visited Unique in Gadsden,Al. They had some very fine examples of their work. A very good place to visit since you live close by. I liked the GT40 they had in the showroom. Very nice people and I have heard they are good to work with.
