Weirhouse,
Congratulations! You bought a nice car. I know a bit about this car. :) One of my local buddies thought too long about it, called a bit too late, a day after you bought it. He snoozed, and you got the prize. Good Luck, and have fun with your ERA!

Wow

Thanks decooney.....

Didn't realize I was cutting it that close, but am sure glad I made the trip to drive it.

FYI, you might have your friend take a look at Greg Sellards ERA #389 in Arlington, TX. It was close between the 2 and if he liked Phil's he'd probably like this one as well. It has a Holman Moody NASCAR 427 s/o block, 850 Holley and is a bit more agressive than Phil's. It is a great solid red color and is posted on Cobra Country. Of course he will have to deal with Vickie, who was very happy when I didn't buy it! He's at aviary@comcast.net

Another nice one is closer to your neighborhood. Phil Wortman has a fantastic Contemporary w 427 s/o up in Oregon. He was still trying to figure out if he really wanted to sell it. He's at vwortman@crestviewcable.com.

The best part of owning a ERA is driving it.

svobud 10-10-2004 11:32 PM

Can't wait to see it in person!!!

Have fun with your "new" ERA and many safe miles of enjoyment. Make sure to download the appropriate owner's manual from the ERA website. It is a very valuable tool and answers most questions.

BTW, take it easy on the first few drives until you get used to the unassisted disk brakes. If you are used to a power/assisted modern car's brakes, this will be the major thing you will find different. Albiet authentic.

My advice is to get the baby up on jackstands and nut and bolt everything underneath, and grease all universals and ball joints.

Enjoy the vino! I know you will love the car.
Best Wishes.

Congrats...I too will be on the look out.

Congrats on the purchase and look forward to seeing it. It was an ERA that got me into cobra replica ownership.

Where do you drive it?

One question - where do you Atlanta area folks actually drive your cars? Looking for some good roads and assume I'll need to get out a bit to find some nice routes to drive. Appreciate any suggestions because I know Holcomb Bridge Road and 285 are NOT going to cut it.

Also, let me know when the next get together is and I'll bring the car down for initiation. BTW, Cracker already has first dibs on a drive.:3DSMILE:

Congrats and welcome to the Atlanta club! We have a pretty active group and pretty much all of the drives are posted on this forum. Keep an eye out for it.

If you want to autocross it, there's one Oct. 31 at the Gwinnett fairgrounds.

Most people in your area take a backroad drive to Ellijay or Helen.

Hey good idea..... weather's nice..... let's go out and DRIVE OUR CARS!!!

p.s. I drive mine to work, to Lowes, to the mountains, to dinner, to the lake.... anywhere I can.

GeorgiaSnake 10-15-2004 05:21 PM

Welcome!

I don't drive mine - I just sit in it and make motor sounds - I'll drive it as soon as I get a clutch in it - Hopefully in a week or so.

Keep your eyes open as things develope quickly.

What part of Alpharetta are you in?

Randy

HSSS427 10-15-2004 08:01 PM

It's here, it's here, it's here!!!!!!!

Randy,
I've been doing the motor sound thing too for the last several months, but didn't have something to sit in. However, did find something to sit on and when using one's imagination you could say those were motor sounds being produced **)

Car arrived this eveing around 8pm and I think I set the record for most passengers in a Cobra - 2 adults and 3 small children! Luckily I didn't need to get out of first gear.

I'm off Holcomb Bridge at Barnwell, about 4 miles East of 400. I guess it's actually Roswell due to the latest annexation, but my mailing address still says Alpharetta. I'm a little ways away from you, but not too far. I remember stopping by your house after my ride with Tony a few months back.

Looking forward to catching up with you and the other locals!
Thanks!
Scott
