your SPF dealer should have them . I got mine at Dynamic, several coverings available. Finish Line also carries them, a different style with perforated holes .
they work great . Bill |
I started with Dynamic's which were powder coated "chrome." I switched to these which are polished stainless steel from Stainless Steel Specialities. They were about $180 each, but as you can see, they are quite long covering all the muffler and most of the pipe.

Dynamic told me their shields are $100 each with ceramic black $110 each. I also found a person on the FFR web site selling them for $160 to $200 for two. The cost depends on stainless or color. I have the name at home. I have not seen the covers SPF sells, but the FFR covers look similar to the picture above (no air holes).
I have been researching the topic for a couple of weeks and I'm still undecided on style and color. A local shop can do the ceramic work, but I'm not certain the colors will match the pipes. Tom |

I do not use this, but I have visited them in Mooresville and I was very impressed with the product and their very diverse client list.
KoolMat Sidepipe Insulation Kit Not inexpensive, but I gathered that you could lay your hand on the shield after running hard. I know they do Superformance and others. |

Olthoff fitted my SPF with heat shields with an insulator similar to Kool Mat in them. I originally wanted silver ceramic but, for the same price ($350 installed), he was able to get stainless ones, and I love them. The stainless looks great, I get lots of compliments on them, and the insulation is incredible--you can literally hold your hand against the shield after the car has been running.
It isn't the best picture to show the shields, but here is one I have handy. |
If you're looking for heat shields for the side pipes I have some here

After you burn your leg one time, you won't ever burn it again.

As a BDR owner I'm happy with the ventilated style. The ventilation should dissipate the heat faster than a solid shield--shouldn't it?
|
if it doesn't, at least it would leave a cool looking scar... Looks like snakeskin!

I bought the Koolmat recently. They work better than I expected. After running stationary for 5 minutes, you can reach down and they are actually cool to the touch back where the driver's door (your leg) is. Closer to the header they are warmer, but still able to put your hand on them with only a slightly warm feel.
They are spendy, but Pat was excellent to work with, and the product does exceed my expectations. Not a common thing these days when many products tend to fall short. Good luck, and tell her Greg from China was one of the people who recommended you. |
Oh yes, forgot to add that they have a nice "S" cutout in them that allows maximum coverage of the exhaust back to where they turn away from the car. Pat said Dennis Olthoff helped her design this. Her shop is just down the road from his.
Each one is custom made and they come in different finishes. Sorry, I don't have a picture to post now, but will later if anyone wants to see them. |
i am looking for the leather type heat shield that folds up inside next to your seat and folds out over the pipes and then folds back in ? any info will be helpful . Thanks
|
I have seen those custom made. One set was from Nomex, like they use in the fire suits. The other type I saw was a small welding blanket, from Flax I believe, cut in half and made into two strips.
