Chassis Dyno - North GA

Does anyone know a good chassis dyno tuner in the north Georgia area?
Thanks,
Jerry

He is not in North Georgia, but Wayne Presley in Enterprise, Al has a Mustang and is known for his tuning. He has a company called VeryCoolParts and his email is verycoolparts.com.

good luck

a Mustang chassis dyno that is.

There's a dyno shop in Sugar Hill and another just off the perimeter on the north side. Someone can chime in with the names of the outfits.

The shop in Sugar Hill is probably Balanced Performance - Ed is the great dyno guy - a fellow GT alum

Tony - When are you going to organize another trip to the drags?

Tony Radford 04-23-2008 03:12 AM

Hey John, good to hear from you. We came pretty close to getting a tail of the Dragon run put together....then the rains came. I haven't thought much about the drag strip lately. How about the Mitty? That's coming up in a week or so.

Brad Brand (bradbrand.com) is a big name here in the Atlanta area (Covington) for the Mustang crowd (fuel injected w/power adders). If I was looking for the ultimate tuner for a Ford fuel injection set up ... he would be the guy in this area.

If you're looking for a carb tuner, I dont have any personal experience with anyone around here.

CWizard 04-23-2008 05:15 PM

Yeah, it's a carb guy that I need. Thanks anyway.

How far "north", Jerry? If Chattanooga isn't out of your range, then you might give Irvin Hickman at A2Z Performance a call. They have a Dynojet chassis dyno that has always given very consistent and repeatable data. Irvin and Nick are great guys, but admittedly "EFI specialists" since most of their business is imports and late-model American iron. My place is only about a quarter-mile from there however, and I'm glad to help out when they need a hand with carb tuning.

Check with Aric at Injected Engineering in Kennesaw 678 449-6871. They do NICE work.

Lamar Walden automtive in Doraville (just north of Atlanta) are damn good at dyno tuning. While they are really died-in-the wool Chevy guys, they can tweak anything with pistons and are totally honest and trustworthy. 770-449-0315 and ask for Rob.

Hey StanJ-
How far north you asked? Chattanooga is perfect, since I live in the area. I've also done business with Ervin before, but recent calls to A2Z were answered by machine, and I couldn't leave a message because the message box was full. So I wondered if something had happened. Hopefully not. What I need is someone who is good with Holley carbs.
You're close to A2Z? Maybe I should come talk to you.
Jerry

StanJ 04-25-2008 08:30 PM

That's odd. I was there just this afternoon and everything seemed to be fine. What phone number are you using, Jerry? The number I have for A2Z is (423) 847-6461. As regards helping you dial in in your Holley carb, I'll be happy to. Just give me a couple of days notice once you schedule time with Ervin so that I can clear a time slot for you.

Call Bryan Maloof from Bryan Maloof Racing. He is a genious when it comes to tuning these motors. He has his own shop, but he uses a dyno for all the tuning of a shop up the road from him. He's in Buford. He's supposed to be moving to Cumming in the next few months, and I'll still drive to his new shop to have him tune/tweak my engine.

FWIW, STAY AWAY from Balanced Performance. While Jeff and some of the folks there are nice guys, I've found their work to be sub-par due to their lack of knowledge of anything not fuel injected. I've had one $1000 experience and my neighbor a $1500 experience to accomplish what amounted to nothing. And on the Dyno? First their numbers are inflated and not accurate and they really don't understand how to tune a carbed engine. It's a shame really, they were nice a close to me. If you have a rice-rocket, go with them, if not, run like the wind!
