Looking for TONNEAU COVER for my '87 MkIV
 
Love to find a source for a tonneau cover.

I think your best bet would be to take your car to a local marine shop that makes covers for boats, or an auto upholstery shop and have a tonneau made up. The tonneau is a flat piece of vinyl with a zipper in the middle and a small pocket for the steering wheel. I can take some pictures of mine and email them to you, if you would like. Let me know. Search for Snapless tonneau and you will find a post about Phillip and Kaye from S. Carolina. They are well known for their covers.

I saw two of them at the Texas Spring Meet a few weeks ago and they are a fine piece. The two guys offered that Phil and Kaye are great to work with. They send you a pattern and then the real thing arrives. They have done a lot of FF's so they probably already have one to fit your car.

The cockpit opening 'cutout" on a MK IV is different from a Cobra MK III and the windscreen is two inches further forward as well as the rear cutout more rearward. A 'ready-to-go" tonneau will not fit properly, nor will any of the snap posisitions be corect.

Visit a good trimmer and have one made out of the original "Everflex" material and you will be good to go.

For what it's worth......I have a tonneau with snaps and am going to get a Snapless cover. The snaps make it too easy to scratch the paint and the covers are just generally hard to put in place. On the other hand, the snapless one was so easy to put in place...and, no possibility of scratches.

I have both types of covers. I used the "snap" one only once as the snaps scratch the paint. It is the only one you can actually drive while covering the passenger compartment, holding some of the heat in.


The snapless is perfect for every day cover ups.
