It just depends on what crankshaft you go with and which rod length (and type)you use as to whether notching needs to be done. There are two 4.250" crankshafts available with different counterweight sizes...one uses a 6.200" rod, the other a 6.300" rod.

The work on the HV pump comes down to clearancing it to clear the counterweight on the crank. Dart block with a Scat forged 4" crank gets quite a bit of die grinder work on the oil pump. I may look into something a little different here as I choose to run HV pumps on everything except factory rebuilds with stock pans. I think I may look into putting the cranks on a lathe and cutting the counterweights down a little or maybe use a billet pump.

Brent u will have to notch the block on a dart. I do not think so on a world block.

Thanks PL, that's as I remember it. We shaved a Super Vic .500 as a test for Cobras and lost a small bit of torque low down but no HP.
No the World required no notching and the oil pumps were checked and sometimes touched on an edge. Same Eagle 4.250, 4.155 bore. Aluminums weighed 475 pounds w/carb, w/o water pump.

Brent i wrongly assumed you were using a 6.3 rod and that you were referring to oiling deficiency not a clearance issue. Thats what i get for posting prior to being fully awake. Sorry Brent, no more disruptions on your post.

I wish there was a Windsor head that that would flow more in .50 to .70 range. (350 range at .700 would be nice). The engine would like it.

There are several....the 225cc AFR's can be made to flow that much and I had a worked set of TFS TW-R heads that flowed about 345 @ .700".

How reliable would this small block be seeing it is max out as far as cubes or does that even matter, compared to a 427 sbf which one would go more miles or would it be the same.

Reliability isn't affected at all. It's not really at max, you still have lots of room for overboring if need be at a later date.
