Let's see how brave we are;
What STUPID/DUMB mistakes have you made in building or maintaining your Cobra.
I'll start off from my build, trust me I have more than this one.**)

Installed the motor without first installing the flex plate. The only motor/engine swaps I've done (old time) bolted directly to the trans, the flex plate was a new addition. The instructions told me to install it, I just got in too much of in a hurry. :( After reinstalling the motor I realized I forgot to install the pilot bearing. :eek: one in, one out, one in, one out. STUPID.

Oh, I thought this was just an extension of the "which is better, Superformance or Backdraft" thread.:LOL:

I installed the transmission by hand, by myself. In the ERA the Trans must be installed through the cockpit. It turned out fine, but not suggested unless your built like the Hulk. Luckily I did not hurt myself.

It wasn't a mistake, I did it on purpose... currently on the 2nd chassis, 3rd suspension config, 2nd body, 4th engine, 3rd transmission, 3rd drysump system, 3rd brake system, the list goes on... evolving from a very fast street car that I could drive on the track, into a very fast track car that I couldn't drive on the street, and back into a street car that's even faster on the track. I believe the term is "stupid money".:LOL:

Okay, this is embarressing, but...

When installing my TKO-600, I couldn't understand why the yoke of my driveshaft just would not stay inside of the seal on the TKO. I putzed with it for about a half-hour, then gave up. The next day I called Mike Fortes, who explained to me that the "seal" I was trying to work around was a shipping "plug".

Took the plug out, driveshafted slipped right on in...

My brain freeze happened when had the front off the ground 3 or 4 inches with floor jack in from the side,I tried pushing car sideways,it slipped off the jack,the fiberglass around the oil cooler took a little beating.Actually turned out okay mostly stress cracks,had to go to the fiberglass guru to have the side exhaust holes filled.My car has undercar exhaust.
