Wow, looking good, I think your onto something. Having worked on a few burned car projects myself, I don't envy you. BUT, it is remarkable how fast the work progresses once you get the bulk of the burned stuff cleaned up and can finally settle down to getting something done.

Thought I would up date this thread.
The calipers are back from being rebuilt. We are waiting on two lines and then the brakes can be bled and tested. Engine has been tore down and looks mint. 393 stroker, Edelbrock 2.02 rpm heads, full roller motor. New rear shocks. The fronts cleaned up real well and seem fine. All the wireing has been striped out of the car. Fuel pump works great. We even bench tested the wiper motor and it also works. The powder coat on the frame didn't have one single blister in it. We should have a deposit on a body in the next couple of months. we have a shop less than an hour from home that can get us a Johnex body. any how here is a few pics. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...rajan17004.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...rajan17005.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...rajan17006.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...rajan17012.jpg |
Congrats on the progress! Looks great.
You never know what you're going to get when you buy a car like that. Sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield. Luckily, this time, you're the windshield. :D |
Wow just poking around and found my first Club Cobra post back in 2009.
Can't believe it's been that long. For the record Gunner the car turned out incredible and is still in my garage today. I have over 4000 miles on the car most of them very safe. Looking forward to another season this year. The day we started back in Dec 2009 http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...c292009014.jpg Here is my dads only ink. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...D4AA4AA30F.jpg This is a pick of my little roadster last fall on her last run for the year. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...A40A2435BB.jpg |
Wow, you did a great job. It is hard to believe that is the same car that you started with. Congratulations.

It's still winter and the car is stored.
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...65EC9D09CD.jpg So all there is to do is look at pics from last year and wait for sunshine and warmth to come back. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...D642E96430.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...27E9F0D40D.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...F62314E235.jpg |
Btw
Almost 8 years after the car was burnt. 4 years after being rebuilt. This spring I will fire the car up on the original Optima red top battery. The handle is a little deformed but it still works. Not bad for an 8+ year old battery that has been through a fire. Other items that are original to the car include the most of the engine, the trans, rear end, Distributer, exhaust, lemans gas cap, roll bar. We have changed the clutch, the rack, brakes, wheels & tires, body, interior, gauges, steering wheel, Had the time of my life on this build and it continues every single mile I drive. I've owned and driven a lot of toy cars but nothing at all compares to a Cobra Replica. I've never driven a real Cobra so can't touch that one. |
