I just threw a propane tank in the trunk and used a space heater. I haven't been able to grow hair on the right side of body since using it.

Tim: Seats are fine. I like them, I just want them redone in leather with a little bit more padding in the back---and some seat heaters. Panavia: That picture looks like just the ticket. I want to direct some air to the defroster and then most of the hot air down to my currently chilled legs. My bomber jacket and ski cap do the trick on the upper body (with a wool scarf and driving gloves), but man, my 501's do nothing to keep the cool breeze out. I'll have the car apart for paint in about a month. Good time to look at the heater installation. DD |

That Vintage Air unit is pretty slick. It seems to be the top choice for the Hot Rod community as well.

the Vintage Air heater

The 7"x7" heater from FINISHLINE looks same as the one from ERA. Put one in my car, #2027. Very simple unit. At least the fan DRAWS, rather than tries to push, through the heater core. Does move more air than I would have thought. Doors let you direct heat towards either foot box or the front. (Mine won't defog, but I never need that anyway). Well worth using. Makes a real difference in comfort. The VINTAGE AIR assembly looks like a serious heater! The "squirrel cage" blower and large motor I would think move a LOT of air compared to the smaller heater. In the ERA FIA, with competition dash, there is lots of room towards the center/passenger side of the underdash. Make a cardboard box "mock up" to check for room. Question to Steve...with your Vintage Air unit, can you direct the heater outflow? I see an "open/closed" door, but not any ducting. Is that what you made for it? Feasible to use the defroster outlets to run hose in to the foot box rather than use them for defogging? If I was doing it again, I would look into the VINTAGE AIR unit...only reservation being, can you duct the heat flow where you want. Pete |

I'm in the process of building a CR II & this is the heater that I installed
in the car, Vintage Air 506101 had to fab-up some brackets & get creative with some hose's & I'm happy with the results. My brother & I are going to test the cooling system this weekend & if it holds pressure we'll be able to test the heater. Best price was through [http://www.palshotrodparts.com] 215.00 to Denver. Panavia: I'm thinking the 506101 unit. Are you one of Vintage Air's dealers? I saw a couple of other sources in the Campbell area, but not Mustang Ranch.

Doug -- we are not a dealer at this time. --I need to call them and see what the requirments are. I sure could use a substitute vendor to '"a Competitor of theirs" .
Pete -- the lower door area really could use a vent/difuser to direct the air - it does not have one. I have only needed a defroster twice. -- an early damp morning in Carmel Valley one weekend, I had to go over the pass to the race track and my window fogged up. -- this was when I didnt have a heater hooked up as I had blown the core a month earlier-- this event spawned the Vintage-Air project. The other event was the last cobra breakfast I went to -- turned on defroster -- no problem. Steve |

Steve: Let me know if you're going to become a Vintage Air dealer---I'll go with Mustang Ranch to buy if you do. I've got time. Cobra comes apart in Feb, and it will probably come home in May. That's when I'd want to do the installation.

bought heated jackets from brookstone this Christmas for presents for myself and family. So far everybody loves them. They also have a cigarette lighter option and extra battery packs. Good quality too.
