Mustang II VS Pinto Rack
Can a MII Rack be used in place of a Pinto rack? The Pinto rack I have has 3 mounting bolts. Two at 16" centers plus another 4" inboard at the box end. Also having 1/2" rods vs. 9/16".
What I see is that there are different versions of the Pinto. Flaming River sells a totally different mount. |
Just talked to Flaming River, they (he) did not know either. Looking to use an MII short shaft.

Paul, one of our Hurricane owners was looking into different steering racks. He might have some info for you if you want to PM him. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/member.php?u=24554

My midstates uses the same. you can use either. You may have to adjust the tie rod ends for size.

Nope, it's different

A Pinto rack is different than a Mustang II rack. They mount differently, they have different rack lengths and have different tie rod ends. If you are designing new car, you can utilize either one in your design successfully. If you are replacing a rack in a car that has a particular type in it, you can't change styles unless you are trying to correct a particular issue. You run the risk of creating a bumpsteer issue. I just searched re-manufactured Racks. It shows mine to be interchangeable with the MII. Same part number. Pinto has at least three gens of Racks.
