Anyone else try Dynolicious?
 

I received an iPod Touch for Christmas and the first app that I purchased was Dynolicious.

It's quite amazing how much technology they are cramming into these devices/apps. Anyway, a couple things that I've learned for others that may have an interest in this "tool":

- Setup, calibration, positioning and stability are CRITICAL to record a good run. 1/2 of my initial runs didn't record because of movement of the device, etc. Velcro fixed this.

- It's great for working on your 60' times/speeds, your 330' times/speeds and your 1/8 mile times/speeds. At the 1/8 mile I was already pulling well over 85mph, and that was with lots of tire slippage. Cars running low 11's/high 10's should be pulling 100+ at the 1/8. To do full 1/4 mile times you are dancing with the jail time. There are conversion tables online that will calculate 1/4 based on 1/8 mile time and trap speed.

- I picked my favorite warehouse district on a Sunday morning to do this stuff. Even then, two or three good pulls will wake up the local constables in the area, as well as heat up the clutch. I kept my pulls to 2-3 at a time for these reasons. The key is to not get overzealous with the thing and then get into trouble just for having some quiet fun with no one else around.

- It will flash a 1/4 mile E.T., but it doesn't save that value on anything less than a full 1/4 mile pass. So make sure you glance at that readout before you switch to another run.

- GY Billboards at 24psi might be great for driving on the highway, but you don't even haze the outer tread under hard acceleration (I still have the little rubber nipples to prove this). Go to 20-22 for starters and then work it down from there.

- Laying down a good pass is all about getting that 60' time DOWN. If you can get through the 1-2 shift clean, then you're only concern is the 2-3 shift. My Pro 5.0 billet shifter mechanism makes that so much easier...consider that upgrade if you haven't already.

-Realistically, in ideal conditions and with the right launch, my car feels like an 11.40-11.50 car. I would need a stronger pumpkin/axles and back to my old drag radials to even remotely consider dipping into the 10's. Kudos to those that are running that fast.

- The skid pad function is also pretty cool. You can measure G's for acceleration, lateral (turning) and braking. But it's important to stay focused on what you are doing and not glancing at the meters (especially in cars like ours that love to swap ends so quickly).

- All data logging and charts can be downloaded/e-mailed.

Good point. Say what you want about our Governator, tree huggers and other BS that I personally don't pay attention to (I'm not a native), but living in La-La Land has its benefits. :D

Its on my sweetie's iPhone so I haven't had it in the Cobra yet, but we did 0 to 60 in my new 381 HP Tundra in 6.5 seconds. :D

Dry weight is 4,580 so I suppose 6.5 isn't too shabby...for a tank. :LOL:

That is the coolest thing I've seen in a while, great way to practice the launch before the strip.

Back when they first started offering DeckTop Dyno and it was proven beyond a shadow of doubt how accurate this software was.I bought one to build two different big block motors Ford and Chevrolet.This softeware compared to actual Dyno readouts then was almost identical.Making me a believer all the way.
