429/460 cam ID help please

Hi
I need help trying to ID this Camshaft, number on the back is 940048
I pulled it from a new 460 long block. I changed the cam to a mild street as I was told this one was for more performance. Cam is Hydraulic as well.

Please help,
Thanks.

cobrakiwi,

Normally I'd say "Google is your friend." I tried it, and apparently Google never heard of that number either...

I also checked for that number at Crane and Comp's web sites. No joy.

Are there any other markings at all on the cam? If not, you may not ever know

cobrakiwi,

Only other idea might be to try to trace it back through the builder.

You said "new 460 long block". Does this mean a Ford crate motor? Or possibly a third party engine builder?

I'll have to look at the cam #, but I replaced a Recon engine that had a mild performance cam # that wasn't identifiable...by even the shop that installed the engine. I think Recon gave me specs, but they didn't have any specs on line.

It could be measured if it is a need to know.
