Want to replace tank with a fuel cell
The CCX that I bought the other day needs some odds and ends and one of the first things on the list is that it currently has a tank from a Camaro in it. It has an external fuel pump that seems fine but the fuel gauge isn't working and was told there was an incompatibility between the sensor and the Smith gauge. I'm thinking I might as well just get a fuel cell for it. Can I just get one of these fuel cells off fleabay or is that gonna put me towards a world of hurt? Oh, don't really want to spend $1K on an Aeromotive though they seem like a choice product.

Why dont you see if you can get a guage that will read the Camaro tank or at least send your Smiths guage to Classis Inst. and have them fix it to read the GM sending unit.That would be less expensive than converting to a cell and still have your guage not work.......unless you just want a cell.........

You can get some cells with a sending unit built into them.....
Does Smiths have a "universal"sending unit for your guage????? |
That tank doesn't use a bladder. It just uses foam instead of baffles.
Call Nisonger for what the ohm range is for their early Smith gauges used in the CCX cars. Since that tank won't accept a swing arm, you'll have to use a tube-type sender if the current one isn't correct. You realize that that tank (cheap!!!) is 10" deep? |

I took it one step sideways or forward or whatever and called the guys that put out Smith gauges, unfortunately the man to talk to wasn't in today so tomorrow I'll have better direction on this.

I'm happy with my Fuelsafe fuel cell - and it works with my Smiths Fuel Gauge.
