I kind of like the way it looks...Sort of an anti-Cobra

Wild looking! The Jetsons are finally here! :3DSMILE:

Looks much better from the back.

jhv48 01-27-2010 11:52 AM

Kind of looks like a suppository!

Sizzler 01-27-2010 01:10 PM

I notice they don't mention any 0-60 times?

How do you get in? Looks like you might have to clamber over the side and then under the lift-up canopy? What happens in a rollover? Is there some escape route other than through the one on top?

No rear bumpers? What would it look like in a legal version? Couldn't they make it a tandem so you could carry at least one passenger?

RedBarchetta 01-27-2010 01:20 PM

It's fugly. 'Nuff said.

My Cobra gets 258 MPG...uh, down wind in a hurricane with the ignition off.

Kinda looks like a Sparrow.

It hardly goes over 60, so I'm thinking you could use a sun dial to time it....

so you're saying a nitrous kit and/or (larger) turbo, maybe another whole engine (which would bring your mileage down to "only" 129 mpg?

The rear end design looks like it was first scribbled out on a napkin by Peter Brock.

...hey, wait a minute, last time he did that it turned out pretty good. :)

Says LA to NY on 10 Gallons. Where are you gonna get two Americans that will fit in it?%/

None the less, I applaud VW for pushing the envelope! We need vehicles like this for utilitarian purposes.

Ibr8k4vetts 01-27-2010 08:27 PM

I like how all the other cars have there lights on and the VW, not so much!

Richard Hudgins 01-27-2010 08:47 PM

Actually old news.

2002 design.

The release for production will be quite a bit different.

Things have changed.

Now it is a hybrid with many options.

I think it is excellent concept from a pure engineering standpoint.

Maybe not fun for the type of folks here however.

tcrist 01-27-2010 08:53 PM

So Tom. Is that the NEW item at your get together in March? In aluminum of course.

Excaliber 01-27-2010 10:04 PM

Haven't seen you around for a bit Richard, nice to have you drop in.

Ah, I see the mpg may vary with the final design and specs. Still, pretty extraordinary!

Trevor Legate 01-28-2010 03:01 AM

Obviously developed around the remains of a crashed Messerschmitt 109 cockpit.

I wonder if the registration plate 'WOBBLE ONE' is trying to say something?

kobrabytes 01-28-2010 06:16 PM

Tom,

I just can't force my way into buying one.... I'll have to continue my contribution to global warming.

Although... If you get one and put it on blocks for 50 years I bet it'll be worth something.

Upon further review, I was too harsh with my earlier "fugly" assessment. It is clearly function over form and asthetically challenged.

There...I feel better now. :D
