You must be talking about my mental capabilities, because an engine comparison wouldn't make sense.
I understand your point. It's only original once. I agree with that sentiment, but an accurate restoration to the highest concours levels using all original and/or NOS parts, paint markings, etc. will be a beautifully restored "original" car, not a beautifully restored replica of an original car.

Hmm, I've tended to notice that RodKnock seems to get more feisty when the Dow Jones increases.%/

Yes, he does have a noticable tick. But we don't mention it in polite company....

Let me see if I fully understand this.
Restoring an original makes it a replica. So then if I restore my replica, will that make it an original?
Sorry, this is all so confusing for my little monkey brain.:o

In my opinion, once you eliminate the CSX continuation cars and the Kirkham models that use original-type chassis, there really arean't ANY of the kits that are "accurate". Some of the rest have bodies that are close, some have interiors that are close, most at least look like a Cobra from a short distance. But all make concessions to originality in order to lower the price, make them easier to build, handle better than an original, etc.
I'd suggest you attend one of the many Cobra get-togethers advertised on this forum and look at, sit in, ask for rides, etc., in as many different brands as possible to help you narrow down your search. It's not easy. There are just too many variables. But just like choosing a wife, you will know her when you meet her. You just have to try a few out to see what you like.....

Actually Doug, there a couple companies that come to mind building accurate replicas. Sagebrush and Roger Bolick's carbon fiber cars are both very accurate inside and out.

I don't want to speak for Doug, but he may have eliminated virtually all the other replicas, because by some people's definitions, if isn't aluminum as well, then it can't be considered "most accurate."

If a replica company made a copy of an "original" Cobra body then you would have an exact "accurate" copy of that particular car.......some companies did that.........
i believe mine is one of those.

An exact copy can't be made due to the 10% rule. You know, the rule that states that to prevent sports injuries, limit the increases in your weekly training or activities to no more than a 10% increase per week, including distance, intensity, weight lifted and time of exercise. :p
Oh, I'm sorry, I meant that a Cobra replica cannot be more than 90% accurate to the original. ;)

Uhh, the thread where I called the CSX car "realer" than Evan's or the thread where I threatened to shut everything down because Ron was busting Evan's balls so hard?

Kevin, I was looking at the link to the Crendon Replica you're building. I like the car, but one quote on the page really caught my eye: "Do not neglect viewing the detailed Build Cost, you may be agreeably surprised." What a great quote -- I can't remember the last time I was "agreeably surprised.":D

I don't know how you could define accurate for any Cobra as all the CSX 2000 and CSX3000s were really all different. Shelby and his team seemed to add and change as they were building back then so I guess you'd have to say the CSX 2000 and the 1st CSX 3000 are the only true accruate Cobras! The cool thing about Cobras is they are real hot rods and you build them to your personal taste. All have pros and cons regarding most everything that has already been posted on Shape, Frame, Options, money you want to spend! Good luck in your hunt but the most important thing is get one!!!!

Shelby American made LeMans replicas and raced them. So even "the Man" made replicas of AC's product.:JEKYLHYDE

I wish the aluminum bodies weren't so pricey. They are out of my budget. From everything I have read here, the 50K and under replicas are fiberglass only. That is all I can spend without letting my family suffer. Would it be fair to say the top three fiberglass cars in order of accuracy are?
1: Factory Five Racing
2: ERA
3: Superformance
