Carlisle events

Hi Guys

Has anyone ever attended the import and kit car national at carlisle?
Its in may and I was thinking of going down for it.
If so how are the vendors? Is there much for Cobra stuff?

Thanks

I live in Harrisburg, about 30 minutes from carlise, and I attended the import show once. Not a lot of cobra vendors, but there were about 20 cobras there.

Bill.

Dam thats not what i had hoped to hear.
Where is a good showing/ swap meet for Cobra stuff?

ZOERA-SC7XX 01-31-2010 06:45 PM

I think all the 'Heavy' manufacturers are there

I think you'll find as much Cobra stuff at the Ford Nationals from what I've heard. I was looking to set up down there this year but I think the Cobra biggie is London Ohio.

What I found enjoyable about Carlisle was the diversity of displays of which cobra manufacturers are one. Imports, bikes, vendors all make for interesting viewing.
Am also attending London show, but for the first time so can`t comment.
Last year Superformance, Backdraft, ERA, Factory Five all there.

The A.H.A. show at Knotts Berry Farm is a good show.........
lots of different cars there from just about every manufacturer
and you can send the wife and kids to Knotts Berry Farm while you
check out the cars....

If the Cobras don't show I would drop in to see the girls

I went last year and there was at least 4 Cobra mfgs with displays. Many other kit cars were also on display. Didn't see the ladies as my wife would have broken both my arms if I had.

ERA was there with cobras and GT40s. RCR was there with thier GT40 and SLC. Tornado was there with thier GT40. Unique from Alabama was there as well. Jay was there with his stuff I believe. Superformance was well represented. I saw Fran Kress with his stand. Lots of 550 spyder replicas. I had a good time and am planning to go again this year....

Ps. Make sure you attend saturday as that is the prime time day.

I went 3 maybe 4 yrs ago.

Under one roof there was:
ERA
Superformance
Backdraft
Unique
FFR
B&B?
Sterling?
I recall 2 or 3 lesser known, but very nice design cars there.

Lots of other non-cobra Kit cars.

Lots of original foriegn cars.

An auto cross.

Plenty of interesting people to talk to. Someone had Webers for sale. Another a EFI Weber look alike. Lots of engine goodies.

I drove their from central Ohio (home of the London show). The London show is great, and has more completed Cobras there. Carlisle had more venders that year.

I'm looking for a show with lots of vendors. As I'm building with no kit.
My car is a restoration of a damaged Johnex roadster. I'm looking to buy alot of parts that are hard to source in Ontario Canada.

Seats
Wind shield
Door, Hood, and Trunk Hardware
Side Louvers
Lights/ Head, tail, and markers
Wiper arms

Stuff like that

Is Carlisle the right place to go?
It's about a 9 hr drive and we will make it a four day trip if its worth it.

Thanks

On our clubs web site we have 14 vendor suppliers listed at the bottom of the page so you can shop from your home.

To answer your specific question the parts sales at Carlisle are not up to the level as the manufacturers. There is a very limited number of parts sellers out there and they don't make it to Carlisle. You would be wasting your time to drive out for those pieces. Mail order would be a better option.

Seats: fibre glass shell should be avaiable from CSC and Heritage Coach
Trimming did all the upholstery work for early Johnex. I think John has a web site.

Door, Hood, Trunk hardware and side louvers: Finishline in FL
Windshield: Finishline or Shell Valley

Lights/head, tail, wiper arms: typical British sports car stuff (Lucas products) try British Sportscar Centre and speak with Trevor White in Aurora, On.

British sports car swap meet held at Ancaster fair ground in mid April 2010; lic plate lite, etc

Cheers
