Saying goodbye to the Cobra

When contrasted to the great driving routes of N California and the get togethers of the BAAC, the solo drives from traffic light to traffic light here in S Florida just aren't much fun.
So, sadly, I've decided to put SPF #237 up for sale. It will be on all the usual sites later this weekend.

Darn, sorry to hear that as I hated it the day I sold my Cobra. Hopefully some day you will be able to get another one and find some great places to drive it. Good luck on the sale.

Ron :)

Ouch!

Have you considered moving?

Seagull81 02-06-2010 07:40 AM

Sorry to hear you are selling. Come join us in central Texas. We have plenty of places to drive in the Hill Country.

Think it through as it will be a day you will not soon forget!

A friend said to me the other day, "selling my boat was like trying to figure out who is getting the best deal-the corpse or the undertaker"
In this case---hope for resurrection

madmaxx 02-06-2010 09:17 AM

You will be back so make sure you get what you want out of it so you can use the money in the future for another one.

I thought I wanted to sell my car once, then I took the cover off. That was 5 yrs ago.It has to be a hard decision.

RedBarchetta 02-06-2010 09:27 AM

What, no runs to Key West and back? Or up Dixie Highway to Melbourne? I realize that the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area is flat and a concrete jungle. But there has to be alternatives, you think?

Say it ain't so! Are you in Florida for the long haul? We'll save you a seat at Alice's.

Got the Bug 02-06-2010 10:59 AM

Chuck,

Best of luck to you on the sale! Hopefully we'll see you at breakfast sometime when you're in the Bay Area. I'm sure that another performance vehicle will be in your garage in no time...especially when your right foot starts twitching and you need an adrenaline rush. :D

tkb289 02-06-2010 11:16 AM

Chuck,

Sorry to hear that the Yellow & Black beauty needs to find a new home. Maybe you need to find a performance car that is more fun for you to drive in your new environment. If you ever move to an area that is more suited to your Cobra driving style, you can find another Snake :)

Atlantacobra 02-06-2010 11:30 AM

I don't understand. There has to be a bigger concentration of Cobra's in South Florida than anywhere else?!?! I bought mine from down there a few years ago.

gsharapa 02-06-2010 11:59 AM

Think through this as I have sold 5 Cobras in the past and always kicked myself afterwords. Last one I sold was a few years ago and went another direction that I shouldn't of (late model performance car) and finally back to buying another Cobra. Once you'll hook on a Cobra you'll always want one..

Isn't there a 12 step program for people at this junction in life or a self-help tape?

Consider all your options before selling:
Organizing a Cobra Club in you area...more cars/people = more fun.
Take a closer look at Corvette owners...
Become a "Waxer"
Any other people with options for him?
Good luck with any decision you make...

Randy Rosenberg 02-06-2010 01:40 PM

Chuck, the only reason to sell your SPF is to buy a Kirkham, like you've talked about in the past...

jmimac351 02-06-2010 02:03 PM

Chuck, have you caught up with local owners down that way? I know a lot of them in the Palm Beach / Jupiter area. There is stuff being organized all the time. Great guys. I sold my car last summer and I'm already back in the market...

Sure.
  1. Get keys.
  2. Climb in.
  3. Start engine.
  4. There are no numbers 4-12.

Randy,

If I make it back to N California, the last leg of that trip will almost certainly be the 800 mile drive from Provo. (and I saved the mix code for my yellow paint )
