Newbie saying hello and needing info from the experts on a Goben Cobra.

Hello folks,
I am a new member of CC, could you guys please help me with some information on this eBay Cobra listing. There isn’t a lot of info on the internet about this build. Does anyone here own one of these Cobras? And if so, could you give me some insights on how reliable a daily driver this Cobra is.

Thanks for any help. BTW this is a ‘killer’ Replica Cobra website!”

Here is the link. I don't know how to create a clickable link here!

I am a newbie as well, I have been looking for a few months for a superformance or backdraft. Never heard of that car,but I would guess it is heavy and not the same experience as most.

lulu52 03-06-2010 10:51 PM

It has a curb weight of 2,850.

Madmiles442 03-06-2010 11:11 PM

ugh

It's about as close to a Cobra as I am to Brad Pitt...

Yuch. Wouldn't touch it.

That rear bumper/body treatment is devastatingly ugly. If you like it though good luck brother. Maybe you'll get it for cheap.

Yeah - and I doubt the front bumpers are energy absorbing. That is really different. It's blown up by 10 inch in wheelbase and 20 inch in legnth over a Cobra, but it's still an amazing job of cramming all of that into that size car. I think calling it a replica Cobra is a stretch.

The front isn't bad, but the rear bumper thing has a bit to be desired.

The Cavalier interior seems a bit cheap also. The Cavalier was cheap.

I would pass, even at $10,000 or below, that is not a good deal.

What the hell is that thing ?
YUCK !!!

lulu52- Please don't think about this,.... THING ?

Even the cost now at $511 is too much. Why,......why would someone build something like that ? It's a disgrace to the Cobra world and should be burned down to ashes. I'M SERIOUS ! :JEKYLHYDE

I've always felt "to each it's own" or "to the eye of the beholder" as far as what people like in life, but this is ridiculous people. :o:o:o
They actually built four of these pieces of crap !

I was gonna make a "ugly part list" but, I ran out of room here and got quite the migraine headache.

Like my niece says, "WHAT EVER".....

Is it just me or does lulu52 seem like he/she could be the seller? Look at the profile. Buys, sells and inspects?????

mrmustang 03-07-2010 11:50 AM

Had to do some searching based on the vague "history" of the ebay car, but came up with a car that used a custom cobra body with a cut down early to mid 80's 4dr Chevy Cavalier chassis (my feeble mind remembers an article in either Car & Driver or Road and Track about this mid America car dealer turned manufacturer)

http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...cavalier-3.jpg

Dash is the give-a-way as are the rear side markers and cut down door from the Cavalier. Again, not something that will be worth what they believe it to be as a "rare factory prototype". There is a reason why this never made it past the early development stages, I'll leave it at that.
