3rd brake light trunk or cowl mount?
For safety sake I'm considering a third brake light. Yes I know Cobra & safety could be considered an oxymoron by some.
I've looked at the billet lights available but they look a bit too hi-tech IMHO. And as I'm not a purist for total originality, I'd like to find a 3rd brake light options that would be a better meld. I saw a trunk mount light on a couple of circa 1980tees cars, a Dodge Shadow convertible & Toyota Celica convertible. Both would fit either the trunk or rear cowl and not look too out of place. Any suggestions on other vehicles that may suitable options would be of great help. Thanks, Arthur |
do a search on 3rd brake lights on this forum. Here is one thread that will helpwith good info.

I really like the way the license plate light was modified. Artistic, clean and well engineered. I've thought about doing this, but would like the light source higher for better visibility. The Hella 5242 looks like a great option. It resembles the Hood Scoop and the design does not look out of place. The Hella looks like it has a flat bottom though, and the Cobra body has a curve. I would like to know if it needs to be contour sanded to fit the body properly. Arthur |

Not a problem at all most guys I believe find it sits perfectly, have also seen it mounted into the cockpit area and bracketed out to the pictured position......Glad I could help!!..maybe some of the Aussie guys could chip in about the profiling of it if it is needed... OZ |
The Hella Stoplight is available here in the US for $124.00 from Susquehanna Motor Sports in Fleetwood Pennsylvania. see the link below.

here's the 3rd brake light direction I'm taking...
http://www.uniquecobra.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=68 then click on the Exterior thread. You'll note part of the thread show's the light and then below, you'll see the body mount area. Also, in the Links thread, you can see where I bought it. I've seen sever other Cobra's with this light. It's small low profile and footprint allows it to pretty much be un-noticed. Mark |
