1330 or 1350 Pinion Yoke?

Hey all
I need to replace the flat pinion flange on my 8.8" diff with something a little smaller. It has the large flange and clearence against the driveshaft tunnel is very tight. Anyway, now is the time to decide which one. Thoughts?

It's cliche' to say, but the system is only as strong as the weakest weak. What size is your slip yoke?

Hey Larry if it clears it clears. It's not going anywhere with an independent so keep the biggest you can in there.

Thanks guys!

That's kind of my thoughts too Nick. I need to find out how wide a 1350 yoke is. It can't be bigger than the flat flange currently bolted on or I'm sunk.

Brent, I haven't bought the slip yoke yet so I'll make the whole thing match the pinion yoke.

Ok, thought you were matching to an existing driveshaft. In that case, go big. :)

Larry,

Go to the bottom of this page : http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...08/ujoints.htm

It looks like the 1330 and 1350 are the same width except for the cap diameter. I'd pick the larger cap diameter if there is a choice.

If the yoke fits..... :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Hey thanks Tom. That's some great info.
Both are 3.625" wide, with the 1350 having a cap diameter of 1.188" vs the 1330's cap diameter of 1.062". That's exactly what I needed to know.

One more question; when I install the new yoke, do I need to check the lash or will it still be the same as with the flat flange?

If you change the pinion flange you need to get the specs and see if it's a crush collar or shimmed pinion. They are typically done up till the torque required to turn them over is to the spec of ? inch/lbs. If you need an inch/lb torque wrench let me know.

Thanks Nick! I have an inch/lb torque wrench, so I'll do some reasearch and see what I can find for specs.
